The short version: Burnbox does not collect, transmit, or store your photos or personal data on any server. Everything happens on your device. We do not sell your data. Ever.
1. Who We Are
Burnbox ("we," "our," or "us") is the developer of the Burnbox iOS application. You can contact us at larson_e@ymail.com.
2. What Information We Collect
We are committed to collecting as little information as possible. Here is exactly what Burnbox does and does not access:
Photo Library Access
Burnbox requests read and write access to your photo library solely to allow you to select photos for deletion. Photos you select are displayed within the app and then permanently deleted from your device's library when you confirm the burn. Your photos are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored anywhere outside your device.
In-App Purchases
If you choose to upgrade to Burnbox Premium, your purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information. Purchase records are managed by Apple under their own privacy policy.
Usage Data
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking libraries. We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or behavioral data.
3. How We Use Information
Because we collect virtually no personal information, there is very little to describe here:
- Photo library permission is used only to let you pick and delete photos within the app.
- Purchase status (Premium vs. free tier) is checked locally via Apple's StoreKit framework to determine your burn limit. This state is not sent to our servers.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party. We do not have advertising partners or data brokers. The only third-party framework we rely on for purchase verification is Apple's StoreKit, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request, but since we hold no personally identifiable information on our servers, there is effectively nothing to disclose.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We do not store any of your data on remote servers, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf. All app data (including your burn count for the free tier) is stored locally on your device. You can delete this data at any time by uninstalling the app.
Photos you choose to burn are permanently deleted from your device's photo library. This action cannot be undone through Burnbox. If you have iCloud Photos enabled, deletions may also propagate to iCloud per Apple's standard behavior.
6. Children's Privacy
Burnbox is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
7. Security
Because all photo processing occurs entirely on your device and no personal data is transmitted to our servers, the primary security considerations are those of your device itself. We encourage you to keep your device and iOS updated.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete information we hold about you. As described above, we hold no personal data about you on our servers. For any privacy-related inquiries, contact us at larson_e@ymail.com.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of Burnbox after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
